The House

All about Lothian House

Lothian House was originally built as a Government tax office and also housed the British Philatelic Bureau for part of it's commercial past. It was inspired by Kodak House, Kingsway, London. Converted into apartments in 1983, it was refurbish and updated, with the addition of a swimming pool, sauna, gymnasium and laundry room. It is externally decorated with 'Arts and Crafts' motifs showing rural images including the gathering of the harvest and also with images alluding to the Glasgow - Edinburgh ship canal which still terminates at Port Hamilton nearby. The building is protected by a Category 'B' listing, awarded by Historic Scotland.

The immediate area has all of the facilities required to make a holiday complete.
In the same block as the apartment are a cinema, grocery store, frozen foods store, Woolworth, a drinks store and convenience store. Within one block there are numerous restaurants (Italian, French, Thai, Japanese, Indian and Scottish), an Internet cafe, two banks, theatres and a 24 hour convenience store. Within two blocks are an entertainment complex including ten pin bowling and an Imax cinema, nightclubs, casinos and more theatres.
